mountain bike

A mountain bike or mountain bicycle (abbreviated MTB or ATB (all-terrain bicycle)) is a bicycle created for off-road cycling. This activity includes traversing of rocks and washouts, and steep declines, on dirt trails, logging roads, and other unpaved environments—activities usually called mountain biking. These bicycles need to be able to withstand the stresses of off-road use with obstacles such as logs and rocks. Most mountain bikes use wheels with rims which are 559mm in ISO sizing, colloquially referred to as "26-inch", although the term is inaccurate as it covers too many rim and tire sizes to be meaningful. Wheels used on mountain bikes usually use wide, knobby tires for good traction on uneven terrain and shock absorption. Since the mid-1990s, front wheel suspension has become the norm and since the late 1990s, full front and rear suspension has become increasingly common. Some mountain bikes are also fitted with bar ends on the handlebars to give extra leverage for hill-climbing.
Since the development of the sport in the 1970s many new subtypes of mountain biking have developed, such as cross-country (XC) biking, all-day endurance biking, Freeride-biking, downhill mountain biking, and a variety of track and slalom competitions. Each of these place different demands on the bike requiring different designs for optimal performance. MTB development has included an increase in gearing, up to 30 speeds, to facilitate both climbing and rapid descents. Other developments include disc instead of rim brakes.

The history of the mountain bike includes contributions from cyclo-cross in Europe and the Roughstuff Fellowship in the UK. The name "mountain bike" first appeared in print in 1966 as "mountain bicycle". The mountain bike was a modified heavy cruiser bicycle used for freewheeling down mountain trails. The sport became popular in the 1970s in Marin county, California, USA. The 2007 documentary film, Klunkerz: A Film About Mountain Bikes, looks at this period of off-road cycling in detail. However, it was not until the late 1970s and early 1980s that road bicycle companies started to manufacture mountain bicycles using high-tech lightweight materials, such as M4 aluminium, although in recent years, titanium and carbon fiber frames have become more common but can be very expensive. The first mass production mountain bike was the Specialized Stumpjumper, first produced in 1981. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, mountain biking moved from a little-known sport to a mainstream activity.

Mountain bikes can be classified into four categories based on suspension:
  • Fully rigid: A frame with a rigid fork and fixed rear, no suspension.
  • Hardtail: A frame with a front suspension fork and no rear suspension.
  • Soft tail: A frame with small amount of rear suspension, activated by flex of the frame instead of pivots.
  • Dual or full suspension: A front suspension fork and rear suspension with a rear shock and linkage that allow the rear wheel to move on pivots.

sport tourer bike

Sport Tourer Motorcycle Type:
A sport tourer motorcycle is a mix of sport and touring type of motorcycle. This type of motorcycle is typically best for aggresive riding which requires performance as well as comfort. A sport tourer motorcycle is much like a sport bike in terms of looks but with easier ways for accessory attachments, such as luggage systems (standard on many models). These bikes will probably be equiped with fuel injection as well as anti-lock brakes.
Several manufactures make a sport touring bike such as Honda ST1100 model, or BMW R1100 RS model.
Is this the right motorcycle type for you? Motorcycle size (engine, height, weitght, seat, chassis, etc) matters
.

A Sport touring motorcycle is a type of motorcycle that blends the performance of a sport bike with the long-distance capabilities of a touring motorcycle, while providing comfort and relative safety to the rider. For the majority of the sport-tourer models on the market, manufacturers use an existing engine and technology from the current or last generation of their sport bikes. The Triumph Sprint motorcycle, for example, shared its engine with the Daytona, Speed Triple, and Tiger models. Similarly, Ducati sourced its 996 motor for its ST4 model. In some cases, whole sportbikes were re-invented as sport touring bikes. The 2000 Kawasaki ZX-6R sportbike became the 2004 ZZR600 with only a change in the front fairing bracket. This is cost effective because the maker can reuse existing tooling and parts, rather than creating a dedicated engine design from scratch.

I ts in our nature always looking for excitement and fun, looking for something unusually, something that is going to affect our adrenaline, maybe will put our lives in danger too, but the feeling after you survive this risk is just something that you will always remember and you will enjoy talking about it with your friends. That’s the way how dirt bike sports appeared, as a result of our wild side.

So, if you want to be part of this sport all you need is a passion for sport, strong heart and a good motorbike. Today motorbikes are one of the most affordable forms of motorized transport in many parts of the world, for the most of the world’s population, and they are also the most common type of motor vehicle, besides the fact that they have a higher rate of fatal accidents than automobiles.

Dirt bike racing is considered as an extreme sport. The excitement of watching the riders traversing over rough and muddy terrain or performing death defying jumps are overwhelming and scary. It’s always and amazing and unique sight when a dirt bike kicks up mounds of dirt when it accelerates or takes a sharp tum, and the crashes are spectacular.

Dirt bike sports became so popular that offshoots of this extreme sport emerged. Different styles of motocross are developed over the years. One of these offshoots is called “freestyle motocross”. This is a new sport and it doesn’t include racing, but instead of racing it focuses on the aerobatics that riders execute.

There are aboard of judges who score the riders according to the style, intricacy, level of trick difficulty, best use of the track and of course the reaction of the audience. Freestyle motocross is breathtaking to behold in particular high jumps which frequently surpass 50 feet. Riders do back flips, one hand seat grabs and other aerobatics that are beyond a doubt spectacular.

If you love dirt bike sports but you don’t have the possibility to be the rider or to be the part of the audience than just try online dirt bike games and have fun being one of the riders and you wont regretted.

quad bike

QUAD BIKE
What do I need the quad for?

The utility sector is the largest in the Quad Bike market, and includes quads that are used for farming with winch and towing capabilities. They are generally road legal Quad Bikes, complete with headlights, insurance and a full MOT. If you wish to ride on the road, you will need a full car driving license, or a bike license issued prior to 1999. It is generally advised that you buy these road legal quads specifically for purpose rather than converting them, as it can cost as much as £500 to do so.

If you want to race with your Quad Bike you won’t need a road legal Quad Bike. This will cost less, as they do not require headlights and other features. Be careful not to fall into the trap of cheaper being better, and even importing your bike. As these bikes may not be up to the same quality standard and could end up being dangerous.

Performance or features?

You may also want to consider if you require the best power and performance, or better features for your Quad Bike. You have to consider things such as having 4WD, or 2WD or even a bike with a switchable 2WD and 4WD option. You can consider engine size, brakes and suspension type. Brakes can be disc brakes or drum brakes and suspension can be single or dual arm as well as gas based.

Regardless of how you come to a decision, it is always best to choose the Quad Bike that is best for your needs and within your budget, with a focus on safety and security at all times.

off road bike

Off-road

Trials bikes have no seat.
There are several different types of off-road motorcycles, also known as 'dirt bikes', designed and specialised for off-road events. For off-road use they typically have, when compared to road going motorcycles, light weight, long suspension travel and high ground clearance, simple, rugged construction with little bodywork and no fairing for easy recovery after spills, and large wheels with knobby tires, often clamped to the rim with a rim lock.
There are specialized motorcycles are for a variety of off-road motorcycle sports:
  • Motocross — A uniquely designed track of a variety of different obstacles where people compete to win the race. The motorcycles have a less than 2 gallon tank which makes them light. Their precise suspension travel allows riders to fly over jumps at high speeds. There are two different classifications of motocross classes. Initially the classes were 125cc and 250cc two-strokes, but as of late those classes have been overrun by 250cc and 450cc four-strokes, allowing twice the engine size to compete with the more powerful two-stoke engine.
  • Rally raid, or Rallies — long distance racing, typically through deserts for long distances. Road legal machine (like enduro) but with significantly more fuel. Capacities tend to be larger, around 450 cc to 660 cc (two or four stroke), an upper limit is often imposed for rider safety.
  • Trials — An extremely specialized form of competition focused on balancing skills and precision rather than speed. Thus low weight and quick power is the priority leading to small (125 cc to 300 cc) engines, often two strokes being used. Seats are unnecessary and affect the center of gravity so they are not installed (sometime they are jokingly referred to as banana bikes due to the lack of a seat). Fuel is kept to a minimum so range is very limited.
  • Track racing — High-speed oval racing, typically with no brakes, no suspension, at most two gears, fueled by methanol (not road legal machines).

dual sport bike

Dual-sport

Dual-sports, sometimes written dual-purpose, are street legal machines that are also designed to enter off-road situations. Typically based on a dirt bike chassis, they have added lights, mirrors, signals, and instruments that allow them to be licensed for public roads. They are higher than other street bikes, with a high center of gravity and tall seat height, allowing good suspension travel for rough ground.

Adventure-touring motorcycles are dual sports better adapted for long distance road travel with limited off-road excursions. Their weight and other features precludes them from tackling the extremes of off-road riding.
Supermoto motorcycles were designed to compete on a single course that alternated between three genres of racing: road racing, track racing, and motocross. This increasingly popular type of motorcycle is often a dual-sport that has been fitted by the manufacturer with smaller rims and road tires. Supermotos are quickly gaining popularity as street bikes due to their combination of light weight, durability, relatively low cost, and sporty handling.
